Columbus real estate remains among the most-searched and fastest-moving markets in the U.S., according to statistics from Realtor.com. Four Ohio markets made the website’s “20 Hottest Markets” list for October 2019, with Columbus leading the pack:

The Columbus market has been on the “hot” list multiple times in the past few years, thanks to a strong local economy fueled by ample employment opportunities. And while the median price of a Columbus home is now $279,900, this remains a relative bargain to out-of-state buyers who are used to higher prices.
According to an article by the Columbus Dispatch, online listings for Columbus homes are viewed by out-of-state buyers more often than average compared to other metropolitan areas. Up to 23% of Columbus online home searches are performed by home buyers from Chicago, Detroit, New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Interest in local migration remains strong as well, with home buyers from Cleveland and Akron accounting for over one-third of all Columbus real estate searches.
