There are many advantages to living in Central Ohio, and a number of surveys and studies are backing it up! A few weeks ago, we shared the news about Hilliard being a hotspot for Millennial home buyers, and Columbus being named the hottest “hipster” real estate market. Now comes a new study by WalletHub, naming 3 Central Ohio cities among 2017’s “Best Small Cities in America.”
Before we roll back the curtain and reveal the locations, we should explain how WalletHub made these determinations. The study included data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the FBI, TransUnion, TripAdvisor, Yelp and county health departments.
Wallet Hub then analyzed data for 1,268 small U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 residents, creating point rankings in the following categories:
- Affordability
- Local economy
- Education and health
- Quality of life
- Safety
These Central Ohio cities scored well enough across the board to be in the top 10% of “Best Small Cities” nationwide:
Of the three, Dublin scored high enough to be among the top 1% of the “Best Small Cities” list. Dublin scores especially well when it comes to affordability, economic vitality and safety. Hilliard and Upper Arlington had similar strengths in these categories, and all three measured reasonably close to each other when it came to education and the health of residents.
