The holidays are a wonderful time of year in Metro Columbus, with plenty of activities for the whole family. Celebrate the holiday season with special events! Here’s a sampling to get you started.
Village Lights – German Village
December 7. Stroll the historic streets of German Village amid glittering lights and festive carolers! Shops and restaurants will be open late into the evening, offering holiday treats, discounts and special promotions. Take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage and enjoy live holiday music throughout the evening.
Columbus Commons Holiday Lights
Through January 1. Delight in the spectacle of more than 200,000 holiday lights, along with vintage storefront displays in the Lazarus Building. The Scioto Mile’s Grand Illumination Ceremony happens December 5. Visit Columbus Commons and the Scioto Mile’s riverfront lights for a winter wonderland experience in downtown Columbus.
December 6. 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tour the Historical Village at Weaver Park, and experience yesteryear’s Christmas with holiday lights and decorations from the 1800’s. Enjoy live music, holiday activities and refreshments. Special performance by Opera Columbus at 7:00 p.m.
Dickens of a Christmas – Ohio Village, Columbus
December 12. 13, 19, 20, 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. December 21, noon to 5:00 p.m. Travel back in time for the splendor of a Victorian-era Christmas at the historic Ohio Village. Enjoy 19th-century decorations, crafts, cooking decorations and fashions inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic vision of the season. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for children. This is an indoor/outdoor tour, dress for the weather!
November 17 through January 4. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) Immerse yourself in a dazzling light display from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Over 3 million LED lights compliment your unforgettable holiday visit! See live reindeer, special guests from the North Pole, and more. Admission cost varies, see Columbus Zoo website for details.
Holiday Pops – Columbus Symphony
December 5 through 7. Performances at 8:00 p.m., Sunday performance 3:00 p.m. The Columbus Symphony and Chorus combine their musical gifts to present a spirited celebration of popular holiday songs. Guest star: Santa Claus! Ticket prices vary according to seat selection, see the website for details.
